2 Month Anniversary of Quitting J.O.B.

View Comments 01 May 2009

It has been two months on my own. WOOHOO!

I quit my Manager job two months ago. I quit to be home and watch my daughters grow and be there for their needs. I quit because I think I have more to give the world than I would be able to give at my job. I quit because it was time to move on to a new phase of my life. One in which I will be my own boss and determine my own work hours.

It would be a lie to tell you that I have not struggled. Yet, I know that I am building a business. I know this. :)

I want to take a moment and thank the people in my life that I look to for motivation. My girls come first and foremost deserve a huge hug for reminding me why I quit. My girlfriend and best friend deserves a ton of credit for putting up with me. My family for giving me the foundation I so need.

And of course there is my partner, Brad. Thank you brother. You rock! Let’s take over the world.

  1. Hi Teevee. Congratulations on being able to leave “the grind”. Being able to be at home while you daughters is invaluable. Just be sure that don’t forget why you quit your job..

      Lance,
I apologize for not responding to your comment before now. Simply stated you inspired me to put a little more effort into this site.

I have redesigned it and still working on it. I have several big ideas that I am in the process of implementing. The first idea that I immediately implemented was adding the Seesmic plugin to be able to record video comments directly on the blog.

I love the personal touch you give to your posts. You were talking to me. Needless to say you left on impression on me. Ironically, I have been guilty of not spending that quality time with my daughters. I had already recognized it and begun last week to set certain things in motion to be more productive and effective. Your video comment simply hit home even deeper. Thank you my friend. Let us continue our conversation. :)

I wanted to respond immediately to your video with a video… but I was not ready. My preferred method of delivery is video as well. Before I quit I was recording videos of my journey every several days.

You can view them here if you have a moment to spare: http://quit.visuallyverbal.com

      Cheers,
      teevee

Teevee – congratulations on your first 2 months! I always get excited when I see other people stepping out on their own, starting their own businesses. Keep up the good work and stick with it!

    Cheers

      Thank you Jonathan.

It’s kind of scary out here. And I must admit I am a bad boss.

No breaks. Small lunch breaks. I would so quit me. :)

Thanks for commenting and I look forward to reading your lessons.

    Good for you Big T!
    You’re the man now!
Whose in charge? That’s right, you are!

    Good skills,
    Ray

      Thank you Ray.
I am the BOSS! I can’t help but want to scream that last line.

      I AM THE MAN!

    3 month anniversary? :D

  5. teevee says:

Oh my! That was written like a year ago! I have since completed a year and written about it! It looks like you are getting to know me better so you will find it shortly! :)

  6. k0zm0zs0ul says:

Oh sheesh.. totally missed the 2009 part. lmao. Chalk it up to my
medication. Sick with the shingles! lol So a year and 1 month! Yay! How's it
    going for you? :)

  7. teevee says:

Actually it's been about a year and 3 months. How's it been? Pretty good. I sold my share in December of the company that allowed me to quit.

It's a little nerve racking but exciting. I still make less but reduced my expenses because of my minimalist philosophy.

This has given me more time to do the things that I have always wanted to do like be a presence in my daughters school (pta vp next year) be more involved in the community (mentoring a teenager), learning how to dance and box… I can go on for days. :)

I even got interviewed last week for the local Univision (spanish) news station. I actually need to post that today. hehe! care to see?

  8. teevee says:

ps yuck to shingles and medication. :-

  9. k0zm0zs0ul says:

That's awesome my friend. :) It is scary going solo, but so worth it. I'm
actually about to drag my sick butt to my son's little party for his last
day of school. I was going to miss it, but couldn't take the sad face when I
told him I was sick! lol Go you for PTA.. I like to be involved, but not
sure I'd go for PTA. :) Too bad you don't live in Poinciana, you could
    mentor my baby bro!

Definitely, send me the link to your interview. I'll check it out when I
    return! Xo
    c

  10. teevee says:

Yes very worth it! :) I wouldn't change a thing.

    Go Mommy! Make it happen!

The PTA thing will be a challenge, but I am up to it. They won't know what hit 'em.

I just posted the interview! Enjoy. I did. :)

  11. k0zm0zs0ul says:

Congrats on the interview! Unfortunately I don't speak Spanish, lol but you
looked great! :D My son's party was great, he had a blast. Growing waaay too
    fast!
